STUDIO PARADISe

Studio Paradise is an album by HMLt.

TL;DR

+ the team and I spearheaded creative direction and release strategy over the course of the year-and-a-half campaign

+ the album currently sits at 1.8 million streams

+ we produced an event promoting the album “welcoming asians in the creative industries’, selling 181 tickets, and securing 5 strategic partners

+ we designed and produced 2 rounds of merch allowing for recurring song discoverability

concept

when we began discussions with hmlt, the only assets he had on hand were film photos he snapped while inviting his friends over to his home studio during the lockdown. after suggesting that we use them as a canvas and add design elements over top of them, we suggested doing the opposite; celebrating them and preserving them like a family’s photo album.

The result was the visual identity for Studio Paradise: a series of images where hmlt’s collaborators can embrace photos of themselves years prior, and reflect on the progress made.

me and the team at storied produced 3 photo / video shoots to create and campaign the singles, which amassed over 2 million streams.

+ Release assets

with studio paradise on the horizon, we sought to recreate the feeling that home studio had for the community. it was comfortable, it was idyllic, it felt like home.

to celebrate 1 million streams on our single, Oyster we wanted to use our platform to open doors and share space with Asian creatives. our team produced takes a village: welcoming asian creatives. the day included facilitated networking, performance content capture, live music, and giveaways from sponsors.

event production

as part of the album rollout, we produced 2 rounds of merch:

  1. the oyster pack - created for an event hosted at a shoe store, we worked with a partner to mint an enamel pin of a Nike dunk low in the orange pearl colorway. to resemble an oyster - and play on the romantic nature of the song - we housed it in a ring box, and tied it together with a shoelace stamped with the spotify code for it to be discovered out in the wild.

  2. album merch - we premiered album-specific merch at our event, featuring the single artworks, and QR codes for easy access to the music when seen in public.
